Tierkloof 4x4 Outing 19 Feb 2012

We left Cape Town on Saturday afternoon in direction Worcester for this
months outing at Tierkloof near the Brandvlei Dam in Worcester. As it was
such a nice and hot summers day we decided to drive over the pass towards
Rawsonville rather than the boring toll road. It was a quick drive and we
arrived at the campsite around 4pm on Saturday. There we met with Paul and
Elaine and it soon became evident that the camp would only be the four of us
as nobody else came to this nice campsite. We enjoyed a very pleasant
evening overlooking the dam and observing a big bushfire in the river behind
the dam.

On Sunday morning some more Landys found their way to the camp for an
interesting mountain drive. Disappointingly there were however only 6 cars
despite the proximity to Cape Town. After the usual drivers meeting Kevin
led the way up the mountain trail. The first bit was a nice climb over some
loose rocks and sand. We were rewarded with stunning views over the Brede
River valley and stopped at various lookouts. After about two hours we
reached the top of the mountain without any major problems. Just one or two
times an obstacle had to be taken twice.  Towards the end of the trail was a
nice sandy uphill which not everyone managed to climb and most took more
than one go at it.

Back at the camp around lunchtime we enjoyed a braai and chat amongst the
group before everybody made their own way back home. We hope the next outing
will be better frequented as Kevin puts a lot of effort in organizing those
events and they always proof to be great fun. See you soon at the next trip.
