A summary of this. A proper deep cycle battery is designed to run flat. A normal car battery is NOT designed to run flat. A deep cycle supplies constant power for 80% of its life wheras a Car battery is designed to deliver a Surge of  power in the 1st 10% of its life.
Rule of thumb - if its got car terminals on it - its not deep cycle enough to be used to power fridges and electrical items for extended periods. If its a Hybrid - has both terminals - then read the article carefully.
If you are not getting the performance from your batteries that you expect - its likely its the wrong type of battery. Companies installing DUAL battery systems - did not read this article. If the intention of a dual battery system is to power accessories, then it should be charged by the car but not used by the car.
If the intention is to drive a wynch - get a golf cart battery which is designed to delivery high power for extended times. A battery is not just a battery. Their design is very specific to your requirements. In a dual battery environment it is important to identify the requirements and connect the wiring accordingly, as well as supply the correct battery for the job - i.e. one for starting the car - the other for doing a specific job.
Read on or waste a lot of money on batteries.
