I was driving in Gauteng - in the City itself. Headed down Rosettenville road in the early evening when I felt and heard an unholy bang. All i saw were 2 hubcaps rolling down the road and the car was a complete mess.
I had smashed my elbows on the window and nearly went through the windscreen.
Horrified, we got out of the vehicle, a really bad part of old Johannesburg City. The car was wrecked with wheels flat and Hubs damaged beyond repair.
Gauteng city is part of a new craze. First they stealing the Telkom Lines and breaking down communications completely. In fact there was less damage to communications when they broght the world trade centre down.
Now in order to get some money, the locals have resorted to stealing manhole covers, directly out of the middle of the street.
I hit this with a small Toyota Yarus at about 6 in the evening. Photos taken with Night Mode on a Nokia Phone. Actual visibility was Dark. Its a hole of about 3 Meters deep.
